TOUR NEWS

5/11/2008

Per our tour policies, we are not suppose to be accepting current event payments on site. We simply DO NOT want to be dealing with finances of the event on site. Please let this be a notification to all players that any player waiting to pay on site will be penalize $100. In other words, it will cost you $100 additional to pay on site. No late fee money will not be added to the purse.

4/30/2008

This weeks dilemma seems to be two questions that arise periodically from newer players that seem to be unaware of the expense of putting on an event. The first question from these players is "How does the GSGT calculate the Pro Purse?" The second question is "Where does all of the money go?" Both of these questions are valid and open to various interpretation based on where all of the money comes from. This is much like your personal finances and book balancing at the end of the month when your wife ask you where did all of our money go?? After a few aggravating moments of going through the old check book register for the umpteenth time, you point out that there is nothing sinister about the balance in your bank account. In your moment of heightened awareness you point out to her that life is just plain expensive. That is pretty much how the tour works. In the simplest of terms here is how things break down:

Income:

bullet

You pay an entry fee

bullet

If a Sponsor gives $$ to the tour, a percentage of that $$ goes towards paying the tours 2008 charity obligations while the remainder goes towards the Pro Purse.

bullet

A percentage of Pro-AM proceeds also goes towards the Pro Purse when available.

Expenses:

bullet

We pay course cost

bullet

We pay CPGA sanction fees for every person entered in the event.

bullet

We pay a director to set-up the course.

bullet

We pay a director to verify scores and post scores. (sometimes players get involved and lend a hand)

bullet

We pay administrative fees that include Web site administration, scorecard printing, rules sheets and so forth.

bullet

We pay a director's travel expenses to and from the event as well as lodging if necessary.

bullet

We pay for advertising in Golfweek and other medias to grow the tour.

bullet

We pay typical business expenses associated with running a business. ie..Taxes, Insurance, Business License, Office Rent....ect

These are just a few of the typical expenses of running a professional sporting event. The income is pretty much limited to what I have listed here.

Keep in mind that the GSGT owners donate a lot of there own time, energy, resources and moneys to making this Tour successful. None of us are getting paid for the constant headaches and aggravation that occur.

Actual budget sheets are proprietary and confidential but are made available to the Players Committee for review upon request and at the discretion of the tour owners. The Players Committee is the governing body over the Players purse and have full control over the percentage payout after expenses.

Be assured that we are running this tour as efficiently as humanly possible without loosing our shirts.

The Grand Strand Golf Tour would like to announce that it is actively seeking Professional Golfers Fifty years of Age and Older.

The GSGT will have a separate Senior Division at each of its events where 12 or more Seniors are entered. Seniors will receive a Competitive tee spot in most events to equalize the field from the tee box. Any event where 12 or more Seniors are entered, the Seniors will be able to compete in Both Divisions with the same Competitive Tee spot.

The tour used the competitive tee spots in 2007 with great success and approval from all players. We are looking forward to more Seniors competing and making it more competitive in 2008.

The GSGT is looking forward to its Biggest Year Ever. The GSGT will have a PLAYERS MEETING Monday March 10, 2008 following the 1st Round of the Sandpiper Bay Tournament. We are inviting ALL players interested in helping Grow and Promote the GSGT to attend this very informative meeting. The GSGT will provide all FOOD and BEVERAGES at this Meeting.

We are very excited about this year and we are looking forward to you participation.
