6-6c/1 When Score Card Considered Returned Example: USGA RULING on Signed and Posted Score: Several players questioned a ruling that was made at an event earlier this year which I feel needs clarification. The circumstances that surrounded the occurrence were not unique but the decision was. The controversy arose when a competitor signed and turned in his score card for an 18 hole total score that reflected what he actually shot though the addition of the individual holes indicated that he score 1 shot lower. It was recognized that the competitor's score was incorrect on the scoreboard. The competitor was asked if he ever left the scoring area, which he had not. He was then allowed correct the score and the score was reposted. The USGA rule that was referenced to allow the competitor to alter his score was Rule 6-6c/1 in the USGA Decisions Book. --The USGA was informed of the circumstances and agrees with the ruling made by the GSGT Committee to allow the competitor to alter his score. |
