McGirt / T. Biershenk shoot 60 to WIN

Final Round, Scramble  (Feb. 13)

After a night fall of more than 1 1/2 inches of rain, that drenched the course, the Pros were ready to start the final 18 holes. With the format changing to a Scramble for the final round, the pros would getting the ball in-hand and a chance to GO-LOW.

Will McGirt of Boiling Springs, SC and Tommy Biershenk of Spartanburg, SC fired a final round -12 under 60 today to move up on the leader board to win the GSGT season opener with a three day total -23 under par. With a solid 30 on the front nine, Will and Tommy kept the pressure on the field until the 17th hole where both players nearly put the ball in the water from the tee box. With one ball in the water and one hanging on a bank one foot from disaster, the two  pros managed to make a par on the 17th. Going to the 18th Will and Tommy knew from the score board they needed a birdie to keep from going to a play-off. With their tee shot 160 yards from an up hill green with a back left tucked pin, Will managed to hit his ball to within 20 feet. The putt was a 20 footer down hill slider that would break between 14 to 16 inches. Will narrowly miss leaving Tommy with the chance to make for the win. The seasoned Nationwide pro had been making putts all day and this was for the win. Tommy calmly rolled the ball into the center of the cup. Will and Tommy receive the winners check of $3800.
