Grand Strand Pro Golf Tour
 
The Grand Strand Professional Golf Tour was scheduled to have the first walking event at Black Bear golf course for a two day event.  Unfortunately, the weather on Monday was not corporative and the GSPGT had to decide to have a 36 hole one day event.  Black Bear was very accommodating and was able to start the players to tee off at 7:30am and then make the turn and complete the tournament at 12:45pm. 
 
The morning round was a grueling test for the players and it showed in the scores.  The golf course was saturated and the maintenance did a good job of preparing the course for the St. Patrick's Day crowd.  Dave Croteau posted the low round in the morning and shot a 1 over (73).  Tony Parrish and Matt Veltman shot 3 over (75) to be tied for second place after the morning round.
 
Tony Parrish took advantage of the knowledge he gathered during the first 18 holes and fired an amazing 6 birdies on the front nine of the afternoon round.  Tony managed to shoot 4 under (68) and win the tournament by seven strokes and took home a check for $1500.  Tony has had a tremendous career on the GSPGT developmental tour and hopes to have continued success in the future while competing on larger professional tours.  Matt Veltman shot back to back 75's to hold on to second place and a check for $800.  Dave Croteau and Jeremy Doyle tied for third place and each cashed a check for $500.
 
The Grand Strand Pro Golf Tour is looking forward to the next event at the Dye Course on Friday, March 27th for a one day shoot out.  The Tour will stay at the beautiful Dye Course for a three day championship starting Monday, March 30th.  The Dye Course is also the host of the Monday After the Masters Golf Charity Tournament which will be held April 13th.  Please check out the GSPGT website at www.gsprogolf.com.
